Nepali folklore says that the first Shaman, also known as Jhakri, had the power to grab all the bad souls from the Gods. He also had to find the right boys and teach them the secret trick in his cave in the forest. The boys trained to become Jhakris, enabling them to heal people possessed by bad spirits. Folklore says that the male Jhakris always looked out for people. The wives, also called Jhakrinis, were evil spirits that would eat people.
