Hanuman Tok

Hanuman Tok is a well-known temple in Gangtok. It is named after Lord Hanuman and is taken care of by the Indian Army. The Kanchenjunga peak, which is the third-highest peak in the world, stands next to the royal temple, which is 7,200 feet high. Significance and Architectural Features

A story says that Lord Hanuman stopped at Hanuman Tok to rest while carrying Sanjeevni from the Himalayas to Lanka. In the past, people would honour a stone that was out in the open here. In the 1950s, an officer named Appaji Pant had a dream about this holy place and decided to build a figure of Lord Hanuman there. Many locals and pilgrims from all over the country come to Hanuman Tok because they think that all their dreams come true there. In 1968, this land was given to the Indian troops, and they have been taking care of it ever since.

Hanuman Tok's excellent location provides a 360-degree view of the lowlands and hills. Stairs and bell-hung pavement led to the temple. Some establishments play repeating bhajans and chants on speakers. The spherical temple has a yellow and crimson hall with depictions of Lord Hanuman's life. Another chamber has tiny Hindu gods and goddesses.

The spherical Hanuman Tok overlook has a wooden roof, tiles, and chairs for tourists to lounge on. Shirdi Baba's shrine is here. Lukshyama, Sikkim's royal cremation grounds, is near Hanuman Tok. This cremation ground burned the remains of the Namgyal dynasty family.

Best Time to Visit

March through June is the best time to visit Hanuman Tok in Gangtok, Sikkim. September through November is the best time to visit in the fall. During these times, the weather is nice and reasonable, which makes it a great time to go hiking and enjoy the views. In the spring, the skies are clear, and rhododendrons and other flowers grow, adding bright colours to the scenery and making the Hanuman temple feel more spiritual and peaceful.
