Tsongmo Lake

Tsomgo Lake is high in the mountains, at an altitude of 12,400 feet above sea level. It is one of the few high-altitude lakes in India and can be found along the Gangtok - Nathu La path. Also known as Changu Lake, it is a must-see for every tourist, and for a good reason - it is wonderful.

The faith healers of Sikkim, called Jhakhris, go to this lake during Guru Purnima and Raksha Bandhan to pray and gain healing from its clean waters.

Best Time to Visit Tsomgo Lake

The lake is beautifully covered in rhododendrons and flowers in April and May. The weather is nice and varies from a low of -1 degree Celsius to 18 degrees Celsius. From October to December, the skies are clear, giving a bright and open view of the area. The temperature is between 5 and 26 degrees Celsius. Changu Lake freezes completely from January to March, and temperatures can drop to -20 degrees Celsius.
