It is Jahangir House, also called Jahangiri Mahal. It is a huge red-sandstone house that Akbar, the Mughal emperor, built. It was a place where Akbar's wives could live. The house is very big and, because it is simple and honest, it stands out from other well-known monuments and PLACES TO VISIT IN AGRA.
To make Jahangir Palace the main zenana (palace for royal women), Akbar made it for his Rajput wives. Later, it was also the home of Nur Jahan, who was married to Jahangir. Jahangir's designers made the palace to ensure he could have the most fun and ease possible.
The Jahangiri Mahal is one of the first buildings that Akbar built. There are beautiful arches, elaborate stone carvings, and heavy-forged brackets all over the grand halls. Its architecture is a mix of Indian and Central Asian styles. Artists carved quotes from the Quran into the walls of Jahangir Palace. On top of that, it has a place of prayer for Rajput women.
The Hauz-e-Jahangiri, a huge water tank, is another interesting thing to see here. People used it to take baths. It’s a notable attraction in any AGRA TOUR PACKAGE.
History of the Jahangir Mahal in Agra Fort
People say that Akbar's son Jahangir lived in Jahangir Palace when it was first built. However, it was mostly where Akbar's Hindu wives lived. It's one of the first buildings from Akbar's time that still stands.
There was a house there when Jahangir was king. His second wife, Jagat Gosain, lived there. She was Marwar's princess and Shah Jahan's mother. Nur Jahan, Jahangir's wife, lived in Jahangiri Mahal most of the time.
The best time to visit Jahangiri Mahal
The city of Agra in Uttar Pradesh is home to the Jahangir Mahal, which is part of the Agra Fort. The average temperature in the summer here is 42°C, which makes the area famous for being very hot. Even so, people do come to Agra at this time, and you can, too, if you don't mind the heat. But Agra gets a lot of guests, both from India and other countries, in the winter. It's fun to go hiking and exploring when the weather is nice.
