The Nagina Masjid is a beautiful building in the Agra Fort. The word "Nagina" means a gem, and it reflects the beauty of the mosque. It is a lovely PLACE TO VISIT IN AGRA.

Nagina Masjid is one of India's less well-known but physically important mosques. It forms part of the history of the Mughal building and comes under the royal complex of Fatehpur Sikri. The following article is related to the historical context of the Nagina Masjid, its construction, and what it entails. The Masjid is a must-visit during the AGRA TOUR PACKAGE.

As one of the most celebrated Mughal emperors, Shah Jahan is renowned for his beautiful buildings. Indeed, so many miraculous structures, such as fortresses, palaces, gardens, mausoleums, and mosques, were designed by him.

What is the history of Nagina Masjid?

Built during the period of Mughal Emperor Akbar in the late 16th century, the Nagina Masjid literally means "Jewel Mosque". It is part of the greater Fatehpur Sikri complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Nagina Masjid was used mainly by the womenfolk of Akbar's harem and betrayed its secluded, intimate ambience, separate from the great public monuments of the era. Its simplicity, both in architecture and structure, compared to other Mughal mosques, makes it stand out as a modest, private affair.

Who built the Masjid?

The mosque was ordered to be built by one of the most prominent and visionary rulers of the Mughal dynasty, Emperor Akbar. Everybody knows that Akbar was a lover of construction activity. He constructed the Nagina Masjid, which indicates that he loved building large public and private places for prayer. Since it was small and delicate, the mosque was a special place to pray alone.

What is the Nagina Masjid in Fatehpur Sikri?

The builders constructed the Nagina Masjid from beautiful white marble, placing it next to the Moti Masjid, which is also very nice. Of the three mosques inside the Agra Fort, the Mina Masjid is the third and largest.

The Shah Jahan ordered the Masjid to be built in 1635 AD. It was a place of prayer for the ladies of the royal family, and no one else was allowed to go there.
