The historic Daksha Mahadev Temple, often called the Daksheshwar Mahadev Temple, is located in Haridwar's south Kankhal town. The Daksheshwar Mahadev Temple is a holy site of immense devotion and faith among Lord Shiva's followers. The temple is another essential places to visit in Haridwar. According to the Hindu calendar, it is the center of attention during the holy month of Sawan. The father of Sati, King Daksha Prajapati, is honored in this shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Devotees can observe the holy Shiva deity erected in phallic form at the Shri Daksheshwar Temple. August, also known as the holy month of Sawan, sees a surge of visitors to this shrine. According to the Hindu calendar, people consider this month the month of Lord Shiva. On the day of Shiva and Shakti's marriage, Shivratri, a priest, performs special rituals at the temple. Two other holy sites, Daksha Ghat and Nileshwar Mahadev Temple, are close to this temple.

History

Because of its connection to a fascinating legend, devotees enjoy the Daksha Mahadev temple. Hindus think that King Daksha had performed a yagna here. Here, after her husband's insult, Sati sets herself on fire. King Daksha did not invite her husband to the Yagna. When Lord Shiva learned of the situation, he killed King Daksha. Later on, though, Lord Shiva gave Daksha's life back. Hindus hold the Daksha Mahadev temple in high regard because it serves as a reminder of this intriguing legend.

Lord Shiva then revived him and gave him a male goat's head. The Lord accepted the king's apology after he subsequently acknowledged his mistake. Lord Shiva asked him to live in Kankhal for the month of Saavan (June–August).

Other activities at Daksha Mahadev temple

There is a historic tree directly across from the yagyashala of the temple. It is a mixture of three different trees. It is nearly impossible to distinguish between the roots, which are so tightly together. Next to the main temple is the Das Mahavidya temple, which has a Mahavidya dedication.

The route between Haridwar and Kankhal is pretty beautiful. While driving, you may enjoy breathtaking views of the surroundings and the Himalayan environment. Daksha Mahadev temple is one of the most significant and must-visit attractions of the Haridwar tour package.
