A magnificent example of Indo-Saracenic architecture, Bhadra Fort is sure to turn heads. The magnificent Fort, constructed following the rise of the Muzaffarid dynasty, is close to the river's eastern banks. The Red Stone Fort is in Ahmedabad's city region.

Ascend the Bhadra Fort for a vantage point over the ancient city. After Ahmedabad became a city in 1411, Bhadra Fort began construction soon after. It is now home to government offices and a Kali temple. The fortress of Ahmedabad extended westward to the river, and its gate served as the eastern entrance.

Views of the neighboring streets and the impressive structure can be enjoyed from the roof. The Maidan Shahi, also known as Royal Square, was located east of the Fort and used as a venue for royal processions and polo matches.

Why is Bhadra Fort famous?

What is the story of Bhadra fort?

In 1411 A.D., the founder of Ahmedabad, Ahmed Shah, constructed the Bhadra Fort, so called because of the illustrious Bhadrakali temple that stood nearby. Aark Fort is another name for this Fort, which occupies 43 acres. From 1411 until 1442, Ahmed Shah was the ruler of the Gujarat Sultanate.

After capturing the Fort in 1817, the British held prisoners until independence. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation repaired the Fort in 2014 along with the Archaeological Survey of India. Guests can learn about the city's founder's life as they stroll through the magnificent Fort.

According to legend, Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, once visited the sacred Fort and bestowed her blessings on the Sultan, ensuring that the city would forever be rich.
