Many of the facilities along the Kankaria Lake are part of the Kamala Nehru Zoological Garden, which covers an area of about 110 acres. The zoo takes up about 31 acres of the whole. It is a trendy place to visit in Ahmedabad

This zoo is additionally famous as the Kankaria Zoo because it is on the shores of the famous Kankaria Lake. It is home to many rare kinds of Indian animals for educational and recreational reasons.

Crocodiles and pythons are just two of the animals that are bred at the zoo. The zoo has a dedicated team that takes excellent care of all the animals there. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is responsible for caring for the zoo and the whole Kankaria Lakefront.

History 

Reuben David was in charge of the Kamla Nehru Zoological Garden project. He was a self-taught doctor who won the prestigious Padma Shri award. He was in charge when the zoo opened in 1951.

After that, it became popular across the country and maybe even the world when it got its name as the "Best Zoo in India" in 1974. David got the Padma Shri from the Indian government in 1975. Interestingly, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation asked David to build a zoo in the city.

How many animals are there in Kankaria Lake?

Founded by Rueben David in 1951 CE, Kamla Nehru Zoological Park covers 21 acres. Back in 1974, it became Asia's best zoo. Animals in the 31-acre zoo include 450 animals, 2,000 birds, and 140 reptiles.

You might see the White Blackbuck, the Spotted deer, the Indian Star tortoise, Nicobar birds, the White Peacock, Silver pheasants, and Tigers and Elephants at the Kankaria Zoo. The Kamala Nehru Zoo is a fabulous mix of bright, beautiful, and unusual sights. An excellent stop on any Ahmedabad tour package.
