The renowned Kalupur Swaminarayan Temple is one of the most exciting places in Ahmedabad. People would see the historical sites and enjoy the beauty of the sculptures based on mythical creatures.

Travellers can find more than one Temple in the city. Still, this one is particularly holy because it is the oldest Temple of the faith and the Nar Narayan Dev Gadi seat, part of the Swaminarayan Sampraday.

Vishishtadvaita is the basis of the Hindu group Swaminarayan Sampraday, which is the most famous school of Hindu belief. For people in this sect, the Swaminarayan temple in Kalupur is one of the most essential and respected holy places.

There are a lot of people who go to lovely temples to look at the carvings and feel the spiritual vibe. The well-known Temple is where the heritage walk starts. A beautiful temple worth visiting during the Ahmedabad tour package

What is the history of Kalupur Swaminarayan Temple?

That's when the Temple was first built in the early 1800s when the British ruled most of India. The father of the Swaminarayan sect, Shree Swaminarayan Bhagwan, told people to build this Temple. It is the first Temple of the school.

Sir Dunlop, an officer, was so interested in what Swaminarayan was doing that he gave 5,000 acres of land to the government so that the Temple could be built. He set up a 101-gun salute to the church as soon as the vast building was complete.

After that, different parts of the Temple were built. The main building had the North Gateway, the Nar Narayan Temple, the Akshar Bhawan, the Rang Mahal, and homes for students and holy women. Acharya Maharajshree Keshavprasadji Maharaj built a house that stood up in 1871.

Who is the god of the Temple?

From then on, the Uddhava Sampradaya was famous as the Swaminarayan Sampradaya. Sources say that he preached the worship of only one god, either Krishna or Narayana. He was thinking of Krishna as his own Ishta devata.
