BojjannaKonda of History
Between the 4th and 9th centuries CE, Bojjannakonda was one of the most important Buddhist sites in Andhra Pradesh. In those days, the village of Sankaram was famous as Sangharam, which means "Boudha-Arama" or "Vihara."
In Andhra Pradesh, Mahayana, Hinayana, and Vajrayana did very well from the 4th century to the 9th. The caves were only found after they were dug up between 1907 and 1908. Alexander Rim was in charge of the dig.
The caves held mud tools, seals, pots, clay beads, gold, lead, copper coins, and metal figures. Later, during the dig, an idol of Kalabhairav and a picture of Harati were also found.
