At the end of the Dwapara Yuga, the Munis begged for freedom. Garuda, and they asked Lord Sri Krishna to rest on his "SIRASSU" forever. It made Lord Venkateswara come down to "Garuda Parvatha" in Upamaka village.
Many think Sri Krishna Bhupaludu, king of East Godavari District, built the Temple in the sixth century A.D. The Temple is in the Brahma Vaivarta Purana, also famous for "Garudachala MahatmayTempleri Ramanuja named this Kshethra Temple of the 108 holy Vaishnava Abhimana Kshethrams.

From November to February, when the weather is nice, is the best time to visit the Temple. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery around the Temple and the nearby harbour.
