Ross Hill Church

History 

Judge Monsieur Ross built a house on top of the hill where the church stands, which is where the hill's name comes from. Bishop J. M. Tissot moved into the house two years later, and in 1867, the Vicar General Fr. Richard built an altar and a chapel.

Unfortunately, natural disasters damaged the church, so in 1877, a new figure of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart had to be put in its place. In April 1942, the Japanese attacked Visakhapatnam. During this time, Bishop Roussillon promised to protect his people at Ross Hill Chapel. It was like magic: there were no more raids over the city.

The first Thanksgiving Procession took place on February 10, 1946. People in Vizag see this as an important part of their lives, which makes it an event to look forward to. The church has been around for almost 100 years.
