In 1989 Rajiv Gandhi inaugurated this place. The residential area sprawls almost 70 acres of land. Shilpgram in Udaipur comprises 26 village houses from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, and Rajasthan. It is like a living anthropological museum at the outskirt of Udaipur. It is home to not just Rajasthani traditional art and culture but also to the whole West Indian folk crafts in general.

Besides the culinary delight, folk sports like balancing on the ropes, swinging, and walking on the pans will amaze you. You can observe the elegant, elaborate artworks showcased in the exhibitions. Moreover, you must see the detailed mirror works, meticulous beadworks, weaving, pottery, and the villagers' embroidery skills.
