Suriyanar Koil Temple is located in Tamil Nadu. This temple is also known as Suryanar Kovil temple. The meaning of the name of the temple is Sun temple. As the name suggests, the temple is dedicated to Lord Surya and has a very rich culture and history. A large number of people from all over the world are coming to take blessings in this Temple. 

Architecture of the Suriyanar Koil Temple

The architecture of the Suriyanar Koil Temple is really beautiful. When you enter the temple, you will find a Rajagopuram or the entrance Tower. The entrance Tower has very intricate carvings. The carvings will depict deities, celestial beings and a lot more. 

In the middle of the temple, you will  find the main sanctum of the temple. The main sanctum of the temple is dedicated to Lord Surya. The temple has a very beautiful architecture, and it is created in such a way that the first ray of the Sun will directly fall on the deity.

History of the Temple

It is believed that the temple was constructed during the rule of Chola dynasty. The Cholas were known for their love towards art, culture and Temple. The temple is well known for festival celebrations. Pongal festival is one of the most famous festivals that is celebrated inside the temple. During the festival time, devotees come from all over the world to take blessings in the temple.
