Adi Kumbeswarar Temple is a famous Hindu temple located in the Kumbakonam district of Tamil Nadu. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Not only this, but this temple is one of the most famous tourist attractions among Hindus.

Who built Adi Kumbeswarar Temple?

It is believed that the temple was constructed during the rule of the Chola dynasty. Chola's were known because of their interest in art and architecture, so you will find great development in this field. 

The Vijay Nagar dynasty also contributed a lot to the reconstruction of the structure. 

Adi Kumbeswarar Temple History

The Adi Kumbeswarar Temple construction was started during the rule of the Cholas dynasty and was completed during the Vijayanagar dynasty rule. Later on, this temple went with different types of renovation work. The Tamil Nadu government has converted this temple into a protected monument. 

Not only this, but the temple follows a Southern Indian temple style. You will find mandapas, vimanas, gopuram, and a lot more in this temple. There is also a large Nandi statue located in the shrine's front part. You will find very interesting carvings of God and Goddess all over the temple. There is a main Vimana which is present over the main shrine. The height of the vimana is around 128 feet.
