Thiruvenkadu Budhan Temple is a temple located in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. This temple is dedicated to Lord Budhan, and a large number of tourists come every year to take blessings in this temple. 

History of Thiruvenkadu Budhan Temple

Thiruvenkadu Budhan Temple was established during the rule of Cholas. The Chola dynasty is well known for their interest in spirituality and arts. 

However, later on, different dynasties came to rule the place, and all of them contributed something or more towards the development of the temple.

The architecture of the Temple

The Budhan Temple has really amazing architecture. When you enter the temple, you can see Rajagopuram. The whole of Rajagopuram has very beautiful architecture and carvings. There is a main sanctum in the center of the temple dedicated to lord Budhan. All the major prayers are done at this place only. 

There are various halls or Mandapams present inside the temple. These Mandaps are used for meditation and prayers. There is a Kalyana Mandapam, which was used to perform reenacting celestial weddings. 

Earlier, the Thiruvenkadu Budhan Temple was not only famous for different types of poojas, but the temple was a great educational center. A large number of scholars gathered knowledge from this temple. 

There is a holy tank also inside the temple. The tank is known as “Brahma Teertham”. It is believed that whoever is using the temple water or getting a spiritual bath will get rid of various problems. 

Various festivals are also celebrated in the temple. One of the festivals is the Annual Chariot Festival. Different types of celebrations happen during this festival. So, while going for the Kumbakonam tour package, just check the festival time of the temple also.

Thiruvenkadu Budhan Temple is believed to have a unique connection with the Navagrahas. The Navagrahas represent the nine planets.
