Thirumayam Fort is a fabulous Fort, rich in its history and architecture, and located in Tamil Nadu. This fort leads us back to the date of the 17th century when Sethupathi Vijaya Raghunatha Thevar was a noble Man of the Sethupathi dynasty.

The Thirumayam Fort played a very important role during the rule of the Sethupathi dynasty. 

Not only this, but during the rule of the British colonial period also, this place acted like a British force base location. 

Architecture of the Fort

The Thirumayam Fort is covered in a Dravidian style of architecture. You will see beautifully carved pillars and sculptures also. There is a temple also inside the fort. The temple is known as Kattabomman Temple. A massive granary is also present inside the temple. History of the Fort

As we discussed, the fort dates back to the Sethupathi dynasty. However, one of the most famous legends associated with the Fort is Veerapandiya Kattabomman. He was the chieftain during the rule of the British. He fought against the British, and his bravery is well-known in Tamil history.
