Architecture of the Shri Kailasanathar temple

The Shri Kailasanathar temple has great architecture consisting of Vimana, Gopuram, and different beautiful sculptures and carvings.

When you enter the temple, you can only see the beautiful architecture and sculptures from that time. There is a Vimana, which rises above the main sanctum. The Vimana has exquisite carvings. You can see beautiful carvings on the Gopuram when you enter the temple, along with the carvings on Vimana.

Various mandapams are also present inside the temple. These mandapams were earlier used for different types of occasions. You will find that all these mandapams also have wonderful carvings and sculptures. You can see beautiful carvings of Hindu mythology and Hindu culture.

There is a main sanctum in the center of the temple, and it is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is known for his divine energy.

Outside the sanctum, you can see Nandi sculpture also. Nandi is considered the devoted vehicle of God Shiva. So, adding this place among the different places to visit in Thanjavur is highly recommended.

The temple is also of astronomical significance. The temple is constructed so that the moon's first rays directly fall on Lord Shiva's deity. This condition holds for all the phases of the moon.

You can visit the temple anytime from early morning to evening. However, checking the timing once before going to the temple is advised.

This beautiful temple has a vibrant culture; along with that, you can look at the beautiful architecture. While going for your Thanjavur tour package, add this place to your list.
