In Dehradun, the marsh at Asan Barrage is where the Yamuna and Asan perennial rivers meet. People who walk or dive come to the lake to see the plants and animals that live there. Many birds in Asan are on the IUCN Red List of endangered species.

People built the small Asan Barrage. It is between the Asan River and the Eastern Yamuna Canal. It is one of the best places to visit in Dehradun. It is located near the border between Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

People who love birds and study them will love Asan Barrage as a place to see the beauty of our flying friends. During the season, thousands of birds that don't live here year-round come here for a few months. Seeing a Mallard or a Red-crested Pochard swim slowly through the bush for a few hundred yards is impressive.

Why is Asan Barrage famous?

The Asan Conservation Reserve, also known as the Asan Dam, is a beautiful body of blue-green water about 43 km from Dehradun. It is one of the most famous places in the area to watch birds.
