The temple is known for its ornate Buddhist architecture and Tibetan religious school. The Buddha Temple is the most popular tourist destination in Dehradun. The Buddha Temple is in Clement Town. It is a popular destination for travellers from outside and devotees of Buddhism. One of the most amazing places to visit in Dehradun is the Tibetan Buddhist Temple.

History of Tibetan Buddhist Temple

In 1965 the esteemed Kochen Rinpoche and a few other monks constructed the Buddha Temple. A Tibetan monastery, the Mindrolling Monastery, was built to advance and safeguard Buddhist religious and cultural understanding.

The temple was constructed in the Japanese architectural style. The Buddha Temple complex offers a serene ambience akin to a Buddhist monk's. The establishment of the Buddha Temple Complex marked the beginning of one of the four schools of Tibetan religion. While the other schools are famous, such as Sakya, Kagyu, and Geluk, this temple complex is famous as "Nyingma."

Architecture

The Mindrolling Monastery, sometimes called the Tibetan Monastery, is famous for its magnificent architecture. The life of Lord Buddha is depicted in murals inside the monastery. Built-in the Japanese architectural style, one of its main features is the Stupa, also called the Great Stupa, which was dedicated in 2002. The largest Stupa in Asia stands 220 feet high and 100 square feet wide.

Statues of Lord Buddha and Guru Padmasambhava adorn the monastery's five stories. The first three floors have elaborate gold-coloured wall paintings. At the same time, the fourth floor is an open platform with a panoramic 360-degree view of the Dehradun Valley.

Visitors have exclusive access to the upper floor on Sundays. The 130-foot-tall statue of Lord Buddha preserved inside the monastery is another unique feature. Surrounded by lush vegetation, the magnificent monastery demands attention, especially from its stunning garden and adjacent bookstore full of Tibetan books.

The best time to visit

April through June, when Dehradun experiences its busiest travel season, is the ideal time to visit the monastery. One will undoubtedly have a great and happy time here because of the pleasant environment and the lovely, serene ambience. Visits to the Mindrolling Monastery are worthwhile when on a DEHRADUN TOUR PACKAGE.
