History

Princess Santala was the daughter of a king in Nepal. She ran away to Dehradun to avoid being married to a Mughal king. She lived in Dehradun with her brother Santaur Singh. There was an attack by the Mughals, though.

She and her brother were brave but knew they couldn't beat the Mughals, so they gave up. Then they prayed for help. After that, a bright light is said to have turned the brothers into stone statues, which made the Mughal troops blind. It is where the temple was built and is now a well-known sight in Dehradun.
