Popular and diversified Bekal Fort beach is one of the largest preserves of the South India.  It is nestled in the nature’s lap.  It is located around 2 kilometers from Bekal Fort and 3 kilometers from Mangalore. This beautiful beach is positioned on the Malabar coastline of the Kerala.

Bekal Fort beach is well maintained beaches among all the PLACES TO VISIT IN MANGALORE. The swaying of the palm trees along with the sharp ridges of the evergreen turquoise water is a much more attractive feature of this beach. 

Bekal Fort is just adjacent to the beach, thus called Bekal Fort beach. The exhilarating beauty of the sunrise and sunset is a must witnessed view of the nature. Many of the Bollywood films are shoot happens here along with the fort view. 

It is a perfect location for swimming and the trails full of Casuarina trees invite a lot of shutterbugs here. The fort stands between two beautiful palms which are fringed beaches. It is an idyllic location where birds flock every year. Travelers even find solaces in the beauties of the nature. The sea is little unsafe in monsoon seasons when heavy rainfall is observed. 

Beside the Bekal Fort beach there is a beautiful walkway path which has an amazing scenic beauty of the coastline. The park is basically an extension of the beach side where swimming is not allowed. You can explore taking a dip in the warm water of the Arabian Sea. From the Department of the Kerala Tourism the life guards are maintained. 

Bekal Fort history

The Bekal Fort has many versions of its origin.  It was said to be built by the Shivappa Nayaka in the year 1650.  There are numerous theories of this creation. Later half of the year the fort was under the rule of the Hyder Ali. The Mysorean control ended around 1799 and the fort came under the control of British East India Company. It later turned to be the headquarters of the South Canada district.

Bekal Fort timings and entry fee

Bekal Fort opens around 8 am and closes around 5:30 pm.  Visitors always find this a perfect gateway for enjoying the serene nature. You spend 2 hours to cover the entire place. 

At Bekal Fort Beach you can enjoy rides like, horse rides, camel rides, local snacks and many other things.  Children can play around and spend hours here. In the evening hours the beach remains lighted, thus you can spend time at the seashore, once the dusk arrives.
