Kumara Parvatha (also known as Pushpagiri), being the 2nd highest mountain is one of top the places to visit in Mangalore. Though it is a little bit riskier and tougher than the others, all said that the journey is dangerously beautiful indeed. Mangalore tour packages included this place.

Kumara Parvatha Temple:

This temple, famously known as Kukke Subramanya Temple, is 105 km from Mangalore. This Hindu temple is located in Subramanya village. One has to reach this temple before setting off for the trek. Buses, taxi, train are available all the time.

The main deity is of Lord Kartikeya. There is a mythological story behind this. The divine marriage between Devasena, Indra’s daughter and Lord Kumara Swami took place here.

Kumara Parvatha History:

Besides that the marriage between Devasena and Kumara Swami marks the Kumara Parvatha as an important place from the mythological angel . The marriage was proposed by Devaraj Indra himself and was executed with a grand celebration.

Kumara Pravatha Trekking Banned?

Kumara Parvatha has always been a very challenging trek. Therefore the trekkers have always described that the journey to the peak is one of the best memories they have gathered and of course one of most beautiful places to visit in Mangalore. The whole journey is full of beautiful and serene scenarios that charm the trekkers.

The three peaks are as follows –‘Siddha Parvatha’, ‘Shesha Parvatha’and ‘Kumara Parvatha’. In 2018, in a fateful mishap, nine trekkers lost their lives in a forest fire in Tamil Nadu. For the preventive measure, from the next year trekking is banned till the season of monsoon. Anyone who does not abide by the rule will be severely punished.
