Legend says, “SURATHKAL” name came from “shiratakal” which means “HEADSTONE”. It is located about 12 kilometres from Mangalore by road in distance. This beach is one of the peaceful and calm places to visit in Mangalore.

Without any doubt, it is an eye-catching and refreshing place which is perfectly placed between the huge Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats. This place is spending some quality times and fun together. Lighthouse is the centre point and attraction of this place. And we say, nobody should miss this place.

A lot of fun kinds of stuff and attraction is there for travellers. Surathkal beach consists of a strong part of history from Indian mythology of Ramayana. This attracts travellers the most.

Main attraction:

LIGHTHOUSE is the main attraction for this beach which placed on the hillock and made this place breathtaking and attractive without any doubt. Many people know it as NITK lighthouse. It is very popular in this location.

Besides that, some water games are available too. And this is a brilliant and marvellous place for a photo shoot too.

Lighthouse timings:

It remains open from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. But we will advise to visit here either early morning or before evening to experience the marvellous sun rising and sunset sight accordingly. The sea view is amazing from the Light House.

Some water activities are available to chill and enjoy together. Apart from that, there have a fishing boat, mesmerizing sunset sight, ancient Sadashiv temple, and so on. It is a conch shaped temple and surprisingly surrounded by four ponds.

Visitors must visit this place. And Mangalore tour package will cover this amazing place. It is one of the mind-blowing places to visit in Mangalore
