Bekal fort history in English

Bekal Fort was once a military stronghold in the Malabar area. It was actually built to defend their enemies. There is a strong belief that it had been built during the reign of the Chirakkal Rajas.

Another popular theory says that it was among a series, ShivappaNayak builds Bednoor forts. Bekal Fort was the eyewitness of many of history.

Hyder Ali and his son Tipu Sultan further enhanced the fort and made it an impregnable force in the area. The Memorabilia found in the fort indicates its importance to the Mysore kings.

The sole purpose of the fort ended with the Anglo-Mysore War. British administration took over it. Today, this fort has become a vital historical monument. And the government of India has selected it, among the five centres.
