Lord Indra was impressed by Lord Kumaraswamy’s win over the demons. He requested him to marry his daughter Devasena, to which Lord Kumaraswamy agreed. Vishnu, Brahma and many GODS coincided on “Margashira sudha shasti (at kumar parvatha)” for the divine marriage of Kumara Swamy and Devasena (Daughter of Indra). For this coronation ceremony of Shanmuka, they brought waters of various holy rivers. With waters of “Mahabhisheka” fell down and creates a river named “Kumaradhara”.
Besides that, the lord shiva bhakt and great serpent king Vasuki wanted to avoid the attack of Garuda (enemy of the serpent). Therefore he was continuously performing Tapasya for several years into the cave of “Kukke Subhrahmanya name Biladwara.
After some days by great lord shiva’s assurance, Shanmuka allowed giving a divine darshan to Vasuki that he would stay with his bhakt forever. The devotees actually worship to Vasuki or Nagaraj, who is nothing but Subramanya. Besides that, this temple was originally sacrificed by the family of ‘Moroja’ who is ‘Sthanika Tulu Brahmins’.

There are two main and important ceremonies named “Ashless Bali ceremonies” and “Sarpa samskara”. Besides that, most importantly many other rituals, ceremony, poojas and sevas are there to get blessed. And some of them are: “Sana”, “Beedi” and so on. ‘Ashles bali’ is known as one of the most important “Kaalasarpa Dosha”. All believe that great lord Subramanya is the protector of “Kaalasharpa” & “Kuja” dosha. They perform this “Ashles pooja” on “Ashlesha nakshatra” in every month indeed.
Most importantly the devotees believe that Shravana, Karthika and Margashira mass are the most effective time and holy months for this ceremony. This divine ceremony is performed in two shifts (7.00 am and 9.15 am).
And only the mandatory ritual is there. Those who want to be a part of this supreme ceremony, they have to report for “Sankapala” in this temple indeed. They should do it with purohita (either 7.00 at morning or 9.15 am). Besides that after completing the holy “homa Poornahuthi”, devotees will get prasada.
