Introduction to Nehru Science Centre
In Worli in Mumbai, Maharashtra, the Nehru Science Centre is one of India's biggest and most engaging science centers. India's most well-known science center is also one of the best places to visit in Mumbai.
It was first opened to the public in 1977 and is named after Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister, who was very interested in science and technology. It was really; to say the least, a great indicator of how forward-looking Nehru's vision was about using science and technology for future growth and development plans.
History and Development
The Nehru Science Centre's history dates back to the early 1970s when experts first thought of the idea. The building process started in the mid-1970s, and the Center opened for business on November 11, 1977. Over the years, the Nehru Science Center has grown a lot. It now has more educational programs and exhibits. It is now an essential place for sharing scientific information.
"Light & Sight," the Center's first sometimes-open show, opened in 1977. After that, in 1979, it opened the world's first Science Park. On November 11, 1985, the full-fledged science center finally opened to the public. It was opened by the late Rajiv Gandhi, Prime Minister of India at the time.
Major Exhibitions and Attractions
The Nehru Science Centre is the site of many meetings, workshops, lectures, and science shows. The two most popular three-dimensional shows are Monsters of the Deep and Grand Canyon Adventure. Many artifacts here also show what people have done in science and technology.
One more thing the Center is proud of is being one of the first science national parks in the country. The library at the Nehru Science Centre is in good shape. During the week, it stays open to everyone—more than 10,000 books on various topics are in the library. The library also has up to 300 movies about science and technology.
Interactive Science Displays
More than 500 hands-on, engaging science displays about kinetics, sound, energy, and transportation exist. This is a must-visit destination if you're exploring a Mumbai tour package. There are many science shows with different topics. At the Nehru Science Centre, you can see incredible 3D shows. Monsters of the Deep and Grand Canyon Adventure are two famous shows. When you watch these shows, you can meet mythical sea animals.
Besides that, you can see well-known science displays such as the Nail Seat, Head on a Platter, Energy Model, Virtual Heart, and Pin Screen. There are also science fairs, science plays, film festivals, a program for watching the stars, and science seminars.
