Baba Bhalku Museum was opened to the public on 7th July 2011. Although the artefacts in this museum are very breakable they have great heritage value. To conserve the heritage of Kalka Shimla Railway, the northern railway took a great initiative to establish this museum containing rare artefacts.
This museum is popular in name as Baba Bhalku Rail Museum. It is for paying a significant tribute to BABA BHALKU. Besides that there is a belief that he guided the construction of the rail line with his supernatural power. SHIMLA TOUR PACKAGES must include this place for sure.
Baba Bhalku Museum history
It is also a belief that Baba Bhalku consists of some kind of supernatural engineering skills. Whenever there was a problem in constructing, Baba bhalku use to come up with exact traces of the Rail line. British were failed to construct rail rocky and rough mountains and then Baba Bhalku assisted the British engineers. Using his instructions they have successfully completed the project that is how we have our National heritage Kalka Shimla railway.
Baba Bhalku had a remarkable observation skill, with only a stick he used to tap the stones and lead the diggers. Baba Bhalku was rewarded with a medal and a turban by the British Government. Among the many other places to visit in Shimla, this is a must-watch.
