Bhimkali Temple, Sarahan History

Shri Bhimkali temple, a Hindu temple located at the Sarahan in Himachal Pradesh. And the temple is actually for the Godmother Bhimkali which was the presiding deity of the ruler of the erstwhile Bushahr state.

The proper location of the temple is at a distance of about 180 km from Shimla. And it is one of the 51 Shakti peeths according to Hindu mythology. There is a big museum inside the temple that shows the images of Hindu God and Goddesses also.

According to many legends, there is a believe that it is the area where the Great War between Lord Krishna against demon Banasura took place. Also another faith says that the head of the Banasura buried at the entrance of the temple. Shimla tourism has many attractive places to visit in Shimla indeed.

Bhimkali temple architecture

The Bhimkali temple is popular because of its architecture and architecture is the only reason behind its attraction. The temple is a magnificent mixture of two different sects- One is Hindu culture and the other is Buddhist culture.

Besides that each wall picture of the temple depicts the story of Goddess Bhimkali. That are carved out of the woods bringing the people visiting the place close to nature and its essence.

Devotees celebrate the kali puja with great pomp. The famous festival of Udyapan Jag is celebrated after every hundred years.
