The Shoolini Temple is a Hindu temple at Solan in Himachal Pradesh. The location of the temple is at Jaunji road, Nauni. It is one of the top places to visit in Shimla indeed.

Shoolini Mata, regarded as the principal, is re-incarnation of the Goddess Durga. The exact location of this Shoolini Mata temple is at a distance of 43 km from Shimla. (And also it is 1.5km from the station of Solan Railway). SHIMLA TOUR PACKAGES must include this place.

The Solan town derives its name from the Goddess Shoolini, a principal form of reincarnation of Goddess Durga. Without any doubt, this is the holiest spot of Shimla tourism indeed. On the ruins of an older temple, the temple was built. It is faith to have preceded the Solan town.

The Shoolini temple has surrounded by the beautiful as well as magical wide-angle setting that gives the visitor a panoramic view. The temple looks surprisingly beautiful at night as the place gets illuminated with diyas. And it remains completely crowded on any holiday and festivals. This is one of the very attractive places to visit in Shimla.

Besides that according to Hindu Mythology, it is a faith that, the temple had the abode of Mata Shoolini. The Shoolini Mata Mandir is one of the primary and major tourist attractions while visiting Shimla.

Shoolini Fair, Solan

Shoolini fair is also popular as the Shoolini Mela (Mela is a Hindi word meaning ‘Fair’). The Annual Shoolini Utsav begins in the last week of June every year. The Shoolini Mela is a three day fair that generally begins after a vibrant procession led by the Shoolini Mata.

The fair begins with traditional pooja and Yajna of the Goddess Shoolini. And the pooja is performed by many well-known priests. That includes the family of the former ruler of the Baghat estate.

The Mela attracts many traders, merchants, sweet-seller and shopkeepers from the neighboring towns. The fair would conclude with much pomp after Mata Shoolini returns to her abode at Nauni. The three-day-long festivals never fail to amaze the tourists as well as the common people.

Cultural nights are organised during these three days. The Punjabi folk singers and Himachali Artistes would make the audience to enjoy on the beats. Along with Thoda (Himachali traditional archery), there are events for wrestling and exhibition. It organised by various government and private companies in the fair.
