Jakhu Temple / Jakhu hill
Jakhu hill or Jakhu temple is a well-known place in Shimla for the Lord Hanumanji temple that is said to be seen from any corner of Shimla. The temple is located at 8050 ft. above the sea-level and that is why it is one of the most beautiful places to visit Shimla.
To reach the Jakhu hill there are three possible ways: First, ‘walk’ which can result into a hectic journey, second; ‘book a cab’ which is the easiest way to reach the destination and, third is ‘the ropeway’ which is a way quicker and cost-effective method, at the same time, of reaching the Jakhu hills.
Jakhu temple is famous for the deity of Hanumanji and every year, the festival is held on the day of Dusshera with much pomp and show. One fun-fact or interesting fact about Jakhu temple is that the height of the Hanumanji statue surpasses the height of the statue in Rio-De-Janeiro, Brazil, that is, the Statue of Christ the Redeemer. To climb the Jakhu temple by stairs, it will consume a whole one hour from which you can guess that there are not less than 200 steps. It is always better to climb up to the temple by walking instead of booking cabs or taxies if you want to feel the soothing breeze of the Himalayas. Two way- adult, RS470/- and child (3 to 12 years old), RS390/- and child below 3 years is for free.
