In Hindi, ‘Baori’ means ‘well’. Chand Baori is well along with steps that are located in the village of Abhaneri in Rajasthan. The construction of Chand Baori was started in 800 CE and completed in 1800 CE.
Chand Baori had regarded as one of the largest step wells in the world. Chand Baori was constructed by King Chandra in the 9th century. And the location is actually in the eastern part of the province of Rajasthan. The Chand Baori is one of the hidden treasures of India and is not an easy task to find out this particular place.
Chand Baori had built centuries before to provide water to the arid parts of the Rajasthan throughout the year. The stepwell is not used anymore as it had used before extensively. It is a maze-like structure that has been the primary reason for attraction to many local tourists as well as foreign tourists.
The Baori is about 94 feet deep with 13 floors in it. The Pratihara dynasty ruled over this part from 6th to 10th century AD. Jaipur tourist places are the best and amazing spots ever and hence JAIPUR TOUR PACKAGES must include this place for sure indeed.
The stairs encompass the water on the three sides whilst on the fourth side; the pavilion has three beautifully carved ‘Jharokhas’, which means windows, galleries had supported by pillars indeed. That are undoubtedly large and two outward hanging balconies upholding the beautiful structures.
