The electrifying beauty of Nandi hills, a perfect weekend gateway from Bangalore. It is one of the top places to visit near Bangalore. The place lures up the green of the hill which has an enchanting location in the middle of the city.  All loves the mesmeric beauty of the sunrise in this location.
 
At an approx, the altitude is 1450 meters, which involves a good amount of treks. It is an ideal location for the bird watching and bird picture taking. The evergreen plantation on the slope simply refers to the transitory types like thrushes, larks, and even flycatchers. 

Nandi Hills is also known by the name ‘Nandi Durg’. There are historic reminiscences because of the ruins of temple and forts present in there. The place was once a hill fortress in Chikkaballapur, an area in the state of Karnataka. The tourists visit it from time to time. 

There is a Nehru Nilaya near Nandi Hills, a 150-year-old pioneer house where Jawaharlal Nehru lived. It has an adjoining lush green forest area. It is now taken care of by the Horticulture Division of Karnataka. 

History of Nandi Hills

The place was once the resort of the great king of south Tipu Sultan. The visitors acclaimed this hill station as one of the blessed destinations which are easy to reach by road.

There is an elevation of 600 meters named as ‘Tipu’s drop’. As per the historians, Tipu kept all the prisoners under that steep rock. Thus, the sounds of the detainees in the prison are heard in the night. The slope of the majestic statue here is in the name of Nandi: A bull.  It is believed that the bull controls and monitors the ins and outs of the entry of the temple Bhoganadishwara.

The beauty of the gigantic and majestic pillars of the place painted along with the ceiling. The temple named Bhoganadishwara located at the top of the mountain, is trekked by the people to visit for the Darshan. 

This temple was dedicated to Lord Shiva, Nandi, and Parvati Devi. It is one of the oldest temples in the history of this region. It is beautifully carved out by the sharp architectural designs. The temple has a pond outside. Shrine Theertha is much smaller, which means a large indoor water pond. 

The originality of the temple is recognized by the oldest in the history of Karnataka. It is renovated consecutively as per the décor style of the Dravidians once resided in India.  It is located at the base of the Nandi hills.

The large indoors of the temple have a water pond popularly known as the Sringeri Teertha. There are designs curved out on the stones outside the temple. The rock-cut steps lightened up on the festivals like Deepavali. The stones inside depict a lot of stories. 

There are other dedicated temples in the name of Sri Bhoga Narasimha, Sri Yoga Narasimha, and Sri Urga near to the Nandi hill top, which can also be explored.

It is best explored in the early morning like from 4.30 am as the gate opens for the sunrise, largely tourist visit there to witness this.  The entry fee is Rs 15 per person.

The beauty of Nandi Hills is a fantastic experience to witness. For example, you can also try out activities like cycling, hiking, paragliding, and walking through the forest. Occasional treks to this mountain are very common. It is well-known as the ‘Hills of Happiness’ among all.

There are diverse monuments which have a perfect environment and many small hills nearby to make the travelling while trekking most wanted. For instance, this hill also provides a perfect spot for relaxing and chilling on the weekends with friends. This makes the place most loved by all.

To be frank, it is always better to visit this place from August to March. Summers are wonderful here. Nevertheless, a large number of tourists gathered around this time every year.

Above all, planning about one day trip from Bangalore, there is nothing exceptional and better than visiting Nandi hills.  It is wonderful, magical and affordable in every possible way.
