The traditional beauty of the Somanathapura Channakeshava Temple is popularly Prasanna Channakeshava Temple is located near to the Mysore. Among all the top location this is one of the top places to visit near Bangalore to explore the beauty of the place.

This vivacious temple stands grandly as one of the finest exemplary of the Hoysala Architecture. The location is at the Somanathapura Town which is around 35 kilometers away from the city of Mysore.
 
This place has been chiefly nominated by the UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are numerous other temples located in the same place which have a miniature and elaborative sculpture with specific features and architectures. 

Somanathapura temple history

In the year 1268, this grand temple was built under the great king Narasimha III. The king of Hoysala ruled for 250 years making a mark of his empire.  There is a stone slab present in the entrance of the temple which chiefly comprises of the detailed description of the temple.

The Dandanayaka Samantha took the permission from the then ruling king Narasimha III to built upon the temple. The antique Somanathapura temple has two major caves which have separate miniature like towers running in them. On the other hand, there are two eaves, where the lower one has a running frieze which has 200 panels that depict the various deities worshipped among Hindus.

The southern part of the wall features other scenes which depict the incidents from Ramayana. Nevertheless, the rear wall too has the life of Sri Krishna depicted in detail whereas the Mahabharata is too found on the northern side of the wall.

The three shrines of the temple clearly depict the three forms of the lords especially Krishna.  The beautifully engraved ideals of the lord make the original glory stronger that tales of history.

For instance, if you are planning to be there then visiting around the month of October is the best time of the year. That is to say, the temple remains open from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm in the evenings. But it does not take more than 3 hours to actually explore the beauty of the place.
