The leading Monolith hill across the Asia is the beautiful Savandurga Hill, situated at a distance of 48 kilometres from the cosmopolitan city of Bangalore. This is perfect for one day trip from Bangalore.

The Hoysala ruler Samanta Raya built this hill fort Savandurga in the year 1543.  It was under the control of the ruler Kempe Gowda until the year 1728. Later, it was captured by the Raja of Mysore, who passed the ruling honorary to the next king Haider Ali.

Around the year 1791, the British ruler Lord Cornwallis tried to capture Savandurga from the then ruling Tipu sultan in the greatest Third Anglo Mysore War.  Even the megalithic burial urns are observed in this area.

The main deity named Savandi Veerabhadraswamy Virabhadra is located at the foothills of the mountain where devotees from various south Indian districts visit time to time.

Savandurga Hill height

Situated at an altitude of 1226 meters above the sea level, this part of the Deccan plateau is visited by many travellers from time to time. Savandurga Hill is formed out of two hills: Karigudda means the Black hill and Billigudda means the White hill. The two temples, Narasimha Swamy and Savandi Veerabhadreshwara Swamy are the two pilgrimage centres visited by the travellers.

It is located at the base of the hill. This path leads to the uneven and entailing ways to the temple which takes you to the temple.

Savandurga Hills trekking

Trekking in Savandurga is one of the most popular activities explored by the trekkers. There are two major trekking trails running up to the Savandurga hill. The rough climbs are tough, as you wish to climb vertically on the craggy rock faces.  At Billigudda it is still easier as it marks the entire way out, whereas at Karigudda it is tougher and less discovered by the trekkers till today.

Climbing along the hilltop of Billigudda you will find the ruins of the Kempe Gowda. Further, the patches of rocks, boulders, and even little vegetation make the trekking more adventurous.

To make the direction clear by painting the rock faces with checkpoints on the wall. While going on the top of the mountain, you will find a more challenging trek. The surrounding region is green, and steep climbs make the trek really unforgettable.

There is another sleep climbing next to this hilltop, which is the Nandi mandapa at the top of the Billigudda hill. For the audacious trekkers, trekking on the Karigudda can be really satisfying and much delightful. It may scale up as more difficult than trekking on Billigudda, but the experience will be memorable.

Apart from this, other activities include;

•         Zipline
•         Rope Course 1 & 2
•         Swimming Pool
•         Team building exercises
•         kayaking

Surrounding the place, an extensive growth of flora and fauna is observed. The tarnished forest is full of shrubs and trees of Savanna, which is dense. It is recorded to have 59 trees, and 119 shrubs spread across the place. places to visit near Bangalore includes Savandurga, a lovely destination for spending a day with your family or by trekking.
