The alluring and magnificent beauty of the Skandagiri hills popularly known as Kalavara Durga  is one of the top locations or places to visit near Bangalore. The picturesque beauty of nature, the evergreen forest area in the winter makes dawn most commendable to watch over again and again.

The place is located around 70 kilometres from the cosmopolitan city of Bangalore. It is on a hilltop with the ruins of the fort which is counted back from the 18th century.  The decaying situation of the fort of the temple makes it look antique.  The total number of the treks covered is approximately 5 kilometres that is why it will take you nearly 2 hours to reach the location.

Skandagiri trek (Skandagiri night trek)

Trekking to Skandagiri hill is a fascinating experience. There is a typical route to be followed which starts from Bangalore – Chikballapur – Kalwara – Skandagiri.

If you start at 2 am from the location named Indiranagar in Bangalore, it will nearly take you 2 hours to reach the destination.  The navigation is pretty difficult as you have to trek from one place to the other. The forest department remains available at every checkpoint where they have a token charge to collect from the people exploring the place of Skandagiri.

Reaching destination after 4 hours of trekking you will witness a lovely and memorable sunrise which is the real panorama of the place.

The place also visited due to the idol worship Kartikeya, happenings at the Hindu temple. This place is believed to endanger by the divine serpents, Garuda and even Vasuki the historical characters of once a time story.  

The timings to visit here is 6:30 am to 1:30 pm and 03:30 pm to 08:00 pm.
