Hanuman Garhi is a famous temple of Lord Hanuman along the Nainital-Haldwani road. It is near the Ashram of Bapu Lila Sah and Shitla Devi temple. The temple was constructed in 1950 by the local saint Baba Neem Karoli and stands at 6,401 feet.
Lord Hanuman's idol breaks open his chest, signifying that Lord Rama lives within him. The vista of the rosy sky at dusk and dawn draws travelers to Hanuman Garhi. Tuesday and Saturday are the busiest days for worshipers because it is a Lord Hanuman Temple—a beautiful temple among the places to visit in Nainital, offering gorgeous sunrise and sunset views.
The son of Lord Pawan (Air) and Anjani Mata is Lord Hanuman, popularly referred to as Maruti Nandan. There are shrines to both Lord Shiva and Lord Rama within the temple.
