It is between the two hills that form a scissor shape by cutting and crossing one another, hence the name Kainchi Dham. Blessed Shri Neem Karoli Baba founded Kainchi Dham, a Hanuman temple and ashram, in the 1960s. It is a sacred temple with a river running next to it and hills and trees around it.

History

In the 1960s, a deeply spiritual local saint named Neem Karoli Baba founded the temple. Additionally, Neem Karoli Baba, who is thought to be a manifestation of Lord Hanuman, has his ashram there. They also have Neem Karoli Baba's ashram there; it is believed that he is a manifestation of Lord Hanuman. At the ashram, devotees assert that they may sense the heavenly presence of Neem Karoli Baba and Lord Hanuman.

Neem Karoli Baba founded the Kainchi Dham Ashram in the 1960s on property given by a local. The Hindi terms "kainchi," which means scissors, and "Dham," which means sacred sanctuary. The words are combined to form the phrase "Kainchi Dham."

The ashram has expanded in size and stature throughout time. It gets thousands of followers and devotees every year.  They come here to participate in prayers, chantings, meditation and take blessings from Neem Karoli Baba. The ashram provides food and medical attention for those in need.  

Neem Karoli Baba's birthday falls on June 15th, and the ashram celebrates with an annual fair. The ashram gets a lot of people from the locals and from the tourists as well.  One of India's most well-known pilgrimage locations, this ashram on the Nainital-Almora road is scenic and situated at a height of 1400 meters above sea level. At first, Sombari Maharaj and Sadhu Premi Baba were the subjects of the ashram's construction. They used to perform Yajnas there.

The elevation of Kainchi Dham is roughly 1,400 meters (4,600 feet) above sea level. It is in Nainital,  in the Uttarakhand state.  Situated 17 miles away from Nainital on the Nainital-Almora route is the temple. A must-include attraction in the Nainital tour package.
