The Mall Road in Nainital serves as a representation of the entire city. It is one of most well-liked places to visit in Nainital. The 1.5 km long road connects the two outlying areas of Nainital town—Mallital and Tallital—and runs alongside the lake. For travelers worldwide, it serves as the premier venue for cultural, dining, and shopping.

If you love momos, Mall Road is where you should always go for delicious meals. Woolens, candles, and local crafts are other draws. If Nainital has anything to offer its guests after the extraordinary visual splendor, it would be candles and other scented goods.

History

British nationals initially constructed the road as a destination for families residing in British territories between 1841 and 1885. Even though the street is now formally famous as Govind Ballabh Pant Marg, it is still frequently referred to as Mall Road—the road, particularly during the busy tourist months of May, June, and October. PWD is responsible for maintaining it, and rigorous traffic laws are in place to prevent disruption.

Activities

The Mall Road is most known for its stores. Many candles, woolens, wooden objects, and scent goods are available. Additionally, watch for products made from fruit, like jams, sweets, juices, syrups, bamboo cloth, and the Bal mithai, a traditional treat in Nainital.

Since the road is at the Naini Lake's edge, you can take a boat trip or relax by the lake and enjoy its sublime beauty.

Bhotia Bazaar is your destination if you enjoy local crafts and are a shopaholic. Local Kumaon women also sell different kinds of goods in addition to their hand-knit interests. Every Nainital tour package includes this attraction as a necessary component.

Rules on Mall Road

Strict traffic regulations, which change based on the season, restrict traffic on the mall road. The road is off-limits to parking all year long. There are dedicated parking spaces for cars bringing visitors, which helps with traffic control. In May, June, and October, the Mall road is off-limits to automobiles.
