An ancient Hindu temple of Lord Shiva is famous as Mukteshwar Dham. It is in the Uttarakhand district of Nainital in Mukteshwar. This 350-year-old Shiva temple gave rise to the town of Mukteshwar. At 2,312 meters above sea level, this hill temple provides a mesmerizing perspective of the bizarre surroundings. Of all the places to visit in Nainital, it is worthwhile to see.
In comparison to the majority of the famous hill stations, Mukteshwar is an untouched natural beauty. It offers a captivating view of the sun-kissed mountain peaks and breathtaking sunsets—a must-be-issuing destination in the Nainital tour package.
History of Mukteshwar Dham
The 350-year-old Mukteshwar temple in Mukteshwar town, Nainital is preserving its legacy. The temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and is well-known among his followers. As ardent devotees of Shiva, the Pandavas built this temple during their 12-year banishment—the intention of achieving Mukti or deliverance from their unhappy existence.
Thousands of visitors and devotees visit the temple yearly to take in the breathtaking views and ask for blessings. Pictures of the magnificent snow-covered Himalayan range, including Nandakot, Nanda Ghunti, Trishul, and Nanda Devi, are available.
Mukteshwar’ s survival is due as much to topography as to the British. A little village grew up around the big Bacteriological Laboratory that the British established in 1889. It is now called the Indian Veterinary Research Institute. Apart from tea vendors and a single hotel, Mukteshwar offers very few job opportunities. The IVRI is one of them.
