Which king built Nagalapuram?

Krishnadevraya, who lived in the Vijayanagar Empire, built the city. It was built to honour his mother, Queen Nagaladevi. The Tuluva kingdom had three kings, and Krishnadevaraya was the third king.

History 

Krishnadevaraya made Nagalapuram during the rule of the Vijayanagara Empire to honour his mother, Nagamamba Devi. In that case, it was famous as Sri Nagalapuram. This village used to be called Harigandapuram before it was changed to Nagalapuram.

Activities

Trekking: A trail starts in the village of Arai, which you can get to by crossing the Nagala Dam. Trekkers can enjoy a peaceful view from the dam, showing them the way to the waterfalls. The hike starts on easy, level ground until it meets a stream.

Camping: Most of the time, you shouldn't camp in Nagalapuram, but some expert trekkers do it if they clear out the camping areas first. They do this at their own risk. Recently, there have been reports of eve-teasing in the area, so women are told to go with men just in case.

People who want to hike on the trail should register at the town's Police office before going into the village and be careful while walking.
