History
In 1540 CE, a group of devotees found the old temple on this spot. China Thirumalaiyya, the grandson of Annamacharya, worked hard to make the temple look the way it does now. A story says that Lord Venkateswara stayed here after marrying Sri Padmavati Devi.
After the wedding, Venkateswara went to see the holy ashram of the sage Agasthya in the Chandragiri Hills near the river Swarnamukhi. Sage Agastya asked them to stay in his ashram for six months. The place where the Lord stayed with his bride later became holy and became famous as Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple.
